This is Dorothy! As I prepare this message, it is the eve of a new day, and the eve of a new year, 2012. Just as each one of us is unique, so is the way we celebrate this festive time. When I was growing up in Northern Ireland it was important that we bring in the New Year with a clean house, the idea being that the year could unfold as it started. Today I do not hold to that superstition, but I do like to have paperwork filed, my desk tidy, dishes done, all before midnight. It was also important that the 'first footer' - first person to enter our home on January 1st ' carry something in for 'good luck'. As this was generally my father who worked nightshift, he would traditionally pick up a piece of coal from our coal shed to throw on the fire. A ritual? Yes. But important to us at the time.
What is important to you? Do you have any special rituals? Do you set goals with the very best of intentions? Was 2011 a good year, or was it a struggle? Ralph Waldo Emerson once said that each day is a new day - begin it well. Can you see each day as being perfectly planned? Could you imagine that the Universe has your day perfectly designed? I can! I can imagine, and have experienced that what I need to know shows up, people show up, a book falls off a shelf, open at the information I was seeking at that time.
Perhaps you would like to adopt something I find helpful. Since 1996 I have had a theme for each year. These have varied over the years, such as, "New Beginning", "Surrender", "Steward of my Energy", Phoenix (rising again). A few days ago, my nephew showed me a book he had just bought, Midas Touch by Donald J. Trump and Robert T. Kiyosaki. It 'just happened' to open at a chapter entitled, F.O.C.U.S., which was an acronym for "follow one course until successful". As I admit to often juggling too many projects, this is now posted on my notice board as this year's intention.
Please take meaningful time for yourself during each week, time to reflect on your intentions and your dreams, and then step into the life you imagine. You are the architect, the builder of your life, so design a mental blueprint of your ideal life. It's your dream, so dream big and believe that you can have the life you envision. If I can support you with your vision, please contact me for coaching.
I wish you rich blessings for 2012, and I wish you Peace, which as mentioned in my December message, means to be in the midst of whatever is happening in your life and still be calm in your heart. Thank you for joining me through this medium. Nurture yourself - and celebrate yourself... YOU are very special.
Until next time... This is Dorothy... Namasté.
