Hi! This is Dorothy... and it IS such a beautiful sunny day here in White Rock.
Let me first ask you: Do you know how to "go with the flow" - to relax and just go with the flow? Or, do you need to have "all your ducks in a row" beforehand, as if relaxing was a guilty pleasure?
As I'm currently in the throes of writing a lengthy essay, my office is strewn with many reference books. This morning I randomly opened one that had a message so powerful I knew I would share it with you. The book, Being Happy: A Handbook to Greater Confidence and Security, is written and illustrated by Andrew Matthews. The author reminds us that when we relax our brain rhythms move into a slower mode, enabling us to be more creative.
Well, a few days ago I had a perfect example that proved this point. It was barely dawn, the morning was romantically misty, so I made a coffee, turned on my electric fire and settled into a comfortable chair, where I was joined by Cadi, my very wise Calico cat. While idly watching the pattern of the "flames", ideas rose to the surface of my mind that were a perfect fit for my writing assignment.
If such a relaxing start to the day is not conducive to your lifestyle, please do carve out a quiet time every day just for YOU! We have only to look to Nature for perfect examples: Birds and animals know when to sleep. The soil needs a rest. Back to Cadi, my cat, (whose Gaelic name actually means 'simple happiness' just is Cadi. She reminds me of Winnie the Pooh, A.A. Milne's delightful Pooh Bear... Pooh 'just is' his delightful self.
So I wish you a very special month, just taking time for you, and a memorable Thanksgiving.
Until next time... this is Dorothy... Namasté.
